Guiding anglers into and through the sport has always been a big part of the Kayakfishing.com effort. Today, with paddling, peddling and so many specialty fishing kayaks to consider, we continue to fit anglers with the best kayak, gear, tackle and info as we know it for their personal needs and particular fisheries. There is no one “best kayak” for fishing and truth is, new fishing kayaks start at $299 if that suits your budget and fishery. Among the growing number of popular proven models, most are readily available used and often come with quality gear and accessories at a fraction of the cost of gearing up new. In our third decade, we’ve made competent referrals to thousands of anglers for first kayaks, upgrade models and more kayak fishing gear and accessories.
“I just wanted to drop you a quick line and say, “thanks” for your outstanding customer service. It’s been almost exactly one year since I purchased my Perception kayak from you guys (and gals), and I’ve had a BLAST with it from the moment I brought it home. I’ve been back a time or two to pick up some additional gear and again, you all were great! … Your 1 year 10% discount kept me coming back for more. As a matter of fact, I’ve even sent some friends down who have all purchased kayaks and been just as pleased with their service and products. Keep up the great work and I hope to see you soon!”

That being said, any cruise with kayaking as an option tries to schedule up to four excursions. Is kayaking safe? One must take some caution when kayaking. First, you are exposed to Polar weather and sea conditions, and if you don’t dress warmly enough you might be some time before getting back to the main ship. Because you are on Polar waters there is a chance of exposure to hypothermia. For these reasons kayak excursions are limited to 14 passengers total – this number lets our accompanying guides keep track of everyone and make sure that everyone is having a good time.
Kayaking has always been a great way to relax and enjoy the water, but now more and more people are discovering that it’s also a great way to fish. Kayaks are quiet and can get into places where the fish are hiding—some places so narrow or shallow that motor boats can’t get into. There are lots of options, from sit-on-top and sit-inside to pedal-powered and motorized to hybrid, so explore and then choose the right one for you and the fishing you do.
Traditional kayaks encompass three types: Baidarkas, from the Bering sea & Aleutian islands, the oldest design, whose rounded shape and numerous chines give them an almost Blimp-like appearance; West Greenland kayaks, with fewer chines and a more angular shape, with gunwales rising to a point at the bow and stern; and East Greenland kayaks that appear similar to the West Greenland style, but often fit more snugly to the paddler and possess a steeper angle between gunwale and stem, which lends maneuverability.
Nearly all trailers can haul more than one kayak. This is a great way to transport your friend’s or family’s kayak. When hauling more than one kayak it’s important to ensure your vehicle is able to handle that much weight. Keep in mind that you not only have to factor in the weight of the kayaks but also the weight of the trailer and any other gear strapped to the trailer.
Recreational kayaks are designed for the casual paddler interested in fishing, photography, or a peaceful paddle on a lake, flatwater stream or protected salt water away from strong ocean waves. These boats presently make up the largest segment of kayak sales. Compared to other kayaks, recreational kayaks have a larger cockpit for easier entry and exit and a wider beam (27–36 inches (69–91 cm)) for more stability. They are generally less than 12 feet (3.7 m) in length and have limited cargo capacity. Less expensive materials like polyethylene and fewer options keep these boats relatively inexpensive. Most canoe/kayak clubs offer introductory instruction in recreational boats. They do not perform as well in the sea. The recreational kayak is usually a type of touring kayak.
Native people made many types of boat for different purposes. The Aleut baidarka was made in double or triple cockpit designs, for hunting and transporting passengers or goods. An umiak is a large open sea canoe, ranging from 17 to 30 feet (5.2 to 9.1 m), made with seal skins and wood. It is considered a kayak although it was originally paddled with single-bladed paddles, and typically had more than one paddler.
Hi there! My name is Matt McKnight and I’m a passionate outdoors guy who enjoys being in the wild and doing many different types of outside activities, such as paddle boarding, kayaking, diving all the way to camping and hiking! I fell in love with the outdoors back when I was a little kid when my dad used to take me on camping trips in our kayak. It has since grown from there and into this site! The kayak car trailer also has LED lights that show people when you’re turning and breaking. It even has springs that give your gear the smoothest ride possible. All of this is included in the trailer package and is easy to setup and install. It is also watertight so it will stand up to mother nature and being submerged for short periods of time while you unload.
